Execution Day: Bang, You’re Dead!

The next morning, Boobala woke up a woman, the first day of a new life. She blushed when she remembered her first sexual encounter with Harry, her husband. She was a virgin, and while her wedding night was wild, it was awkward and even painful. She smiled at the warmth of Harry’s body next to her. Boobala sat up and stretched, enjoying the languid tug of his muscles when he suddenly yelled “Oh my God.” A chill ran down his spine. Jumping out of bed, she ran madly into the bathroom and took a quick shower. She dressed once more in her baggy clothes, combing her hair back into a ponytail. As a final touch to his homey look, he donned his large black-rimmed glasses.

Boobala ran to the bed and started shaking Harry. He muttered, rolled over, and fell asleep again.

“Come on Harry, you have to wake up. We have to go to Mom’s house and tell her we’re married,” her voice was high-pitched and whinnying, piercing his ears as she continued to shake him over and over.

Harry woke up from his extremely aggravated deep sleep, in a bad mood. “Shut up bitch, I can’t stand your complaining voice. We’re only married one day and you’re a bum. You remind me of your mother.”

Once again he saw her as homebody. Shrugging in disgust, he said to himself, “My God, is this the shit I have to see and hear every day?” His tongue and throat felt like they were on fire and his head ached from last night’s tan. He yelled, “Hey Boobala, since you’re near the fridge, bring me that Heineken.”

Opening the refrigerator door, she obediently retrieved the last bottle, saying “Harry, you can hurry. It’s already 10:30.” Taking a swig of beer, he rolled his eyes at Boobala and yelled, “I heard you. SHUT HELL UPPPPPPPPPP !!”

Later, Boobala told Harry to wait outside in the hall while she went to break the news to Mom. Mildred was sitting at the kitchen table waiting for her, her lips pursed in disapproval. Dad had already gone to work. That was a relief. He opened the door and quickly walked in, muttering “… Hi Mom.”

Mildred looked up and looked at Boobala with his back to the door. Her face was distorted as she was ready to give her daughter some common sense. She screamed at the top of her lungs, “Where have you been? You said you were going to have dinner with Myrtle last night, and it’s 11:15 AM here. I called Myrtle and she said you weren’t even there. Where were you? How dare you lie to me? “

Boobala’s stomach clenched at the sound of Mildred’s screaming voice. Shaking like a leaf, he weakly replied, “I got married, Mom.”

“What did you say? Married ??? Who did you marry?” Boobala, very scared, blurted out: “Harry Darling.”

“Harry Darling? The student who came here, who isn’t a good tramp? I knew it! I said I smelled a skunk and you said he wasn’t your boyfriend.

“I love him mom,” Boobala yelled. “He is my husband.”

“Love, ha, you’re barely eighteen, what do you know about love? Did it get you pregnant?”

“No mom, we never had sex.” She answered.

Enraged, Mildred quickly got up from the table and hit Boobala with all her might in the face, grabbing her by the ponytail and shaking her violently until she started screaming. As she continued her physical and verbal assaults, she screamed, “For this, I risked my life to give birth? Come out, come out, you are no longer my daughter. You are dead to me. Stand in my house again. I am going to get you out. from my will. You say you’re married, then let that bum back you up.

Boobala was in total shock and disbelief. She ran out the door crying and screaming hysterically, her hair in complete disarray. He sped past Harry and continued down the stairs. Harry rubbed his nose with the palm of his hand, not sure what else to do. After a few seconds, he ran after her. Neighbors began to open their doors to see what all the fuss was about.

The Elusive Dream: Catch Me If You Can

Mildred was true to her word. That same day he called the lawyer and changed the will, leaving everything to his brother’s family. Boobala was devastated, her pain knew no bounds. She was so mad that she was the rightful heir, not Uncle Marvin. She was the one with a great head for business. Boobala kept saying to himself: “Oh, Mom, why did you do such a terrible thing to your only son?” When she told Harry that she had been disinherited due to her marriage, he was in shock. There was a long interval of bullying in which his mind needed time to decide what to do. As he slowly recovered from the shock, he began to realize that his plan had quickly failed. Now he had a wife with no inheritance. Angry, he would be gone for weeks. Boobala was alone, isolated from her relatives, always on the verge of despair, living from day to day. All the dreams and promises that Harry made never materialized. He kept losing job after job. They began to accumulate debts that Harry could not pay. As a last resort, after their apartment lease ended, they had to move in with Harry’s Uncle Jake.

Since money was becoming a monumental problem, Boobala had to find work. She was able to get a decent paying job thanks to her experience at her father’s clothing company. He liked the job and he liked the salary he earned. “Maybe now I can save for that cruise I’ve always wanted.” she thought to herself. The more money he made, the more Harry would steal from him and the further his dream navigated. He liked the game very much, losing everything he had in his pocket.

Boobala regretted getting involved with him. His addictions to drinking and gambling had ruined much of his life. Their asexual marriage had deteriorated into a contemptuous relationship of verbal and physical abuse.
