For anyone who wants to migrate to Australia as a qualified migrant, they must meet the points test requirement. The points test is designed to choose the brightest and best qualified immigrants who will make the optimal economic contribution to Australia.

All applicants must meet migration requirements for occupations. Applicants must also meet the following threshold conditions to apply for visas:

– Be under 50 years old at the time of applying for the visa.

– Satisfy the minimum English language condition of proficient English.

– nominate and conduct a sufficiency assessment for an occupation that meets the migration requirements at the time of submitting your application.

– provide evidence of recent skilled employment or have recently completed Australian Study status.

Age ranges

The age of the applicant determines the qualifications to obtain points on the day of submission of their application. If an applicant is between 49 and 45 years old, they will be able to apply for a visa, but no age points will be awarded.

For all visas examined for qualified migration points, the limiting English language condition will be qualified English, which is a minimum score of 6 on each of the four elements of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test. Applicants who are citizens of Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland or the United States of America and have a valid passport are considered to meet the English language requirements.

To claim points for first-class or expert English language, all applicants, including citizens of the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, or the United States of America, will need to complete an English language assessment. The evaluation must be completed before the visa application is submitted.

Qualified employment

Points will be awarded for employment in a specialized profession, either in Australia or abroad. To earn points for this article, work experience must be within the applicant’s designated qualified job profession or a closely related profession. Where applicable, applicants can earn points for both competent employment in Australia and skilled employment abroad under the points test. Applicants will receive points based on the demonstration of a verifiable work history in the last 10 years.

Academic preparation

Points can only be awarded for the highest grade obtained. For example, if an applicant is assessed to have completed a Ph.D. and a Bachelor’s degree, they will simply have the ability to claim points for the Ph.D.

State sponsorship

For individuals who do not meet the requirements for qualified independent migration, they may consider state sponsorship if they meet certain state criteria.
