Jobs at risk of elimination

According to a recent report from the Brookings Institute, 36 million workers are in high-exposure jobs that are in danger of being cut by 2030 due to automation. Administrative and office personnel, cooks, waiters (or restaurant servers), hotel employees, short-distance drivers, most blue-collar workers, and those working in manufacturing could soon see that 70% of tasks are performing today they are performed by machines of more than the next 10 years.

Artificial intelligence, robots, and machines will change the way we do our work in every industry in America. From restaurants and hotels to doctor’s offices and law firms, everyone will feel the effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution powered by robots and machines.

In fact, a new plan for the workplaces of the future has already been laid out. The workplaces we have become accustomed to in the past will no longer exist. The new reality is that humans and robots will work side by side as co-workers in the future. Therefore, workers in all industries, regardless of their status and position, must prepare now.

Customer-driven changes

Consider this as an example. Amazon (which employs more than 100,000 robots in its warehouses) is causing organizations around the world to rush. They dominate their competition because of their response time. They serve their customers’ needs faster than anyone else. Order something today and in most cases they will have your package for you anywhere in the world the next day.

This is putting pressure on organizations to modernize and rethink operational strategies as customers expect, and even demand faster service. This has led to a completely new platform shift that is more customer-centric. With this new mandate from customers comes the need for the most up-to-date, highly skilled and flexible workforce ever, hence the need for a new platform model.

Now this is where it gets very interesting, and this is why every American worker must reinvent himself now. Only 42% of today’s businesses rely solely on permanent employees. This means that 58% of companies have already moved into a new workforce ecosystem. This new ecosystem, called the new “open talent economy”, allows companies to hire the best talent (on demand) as workers, contractors and consultants in the short term. By following this strategy, companies can hire the most up-to-date, highly trained and flexible talent pools at all times.

Why improving skills is now essential

With the world of work changing rapidly, today’s workers must act now to upgrade their skills for the future. In the very near future, your co-workers will be robots and machines. So ask yourself; What skills will I need to do my job in the future? Are there new classes and training courses I need to take? How do I invest in my own talents today to prepare my work for the future?

Conclution

A new plan has been designed for the workplaces of the future. The workplaces that we knew in the past will no longer exist. Artificial intelligence, robots and machines will affect every industry in America, and workers, contractors, and consultants will be the new norm and robots will increasingly become our co-workers. Therefore, workers must act now to upgrade their skills for the new age of robots and machines.
