There are different remedies to unclog your kitchen sink, shower, or toilet drain. If you have some knowledge of these methods, you can save yourself some extra money by not calling your local plumber. The methods are not as complicated as people think. You can easily use them in your home. You just need to follow the simple guide lines mentioned below.

There are so many things that can cause a blockage in your bathtub drain, floor drain, or shower drain. Some of the main causes include soap, toothpaste caps, or even jewelry. The best and easiest solution to this problem is to use an environmentally safe chemical drain opener. Just pour the product down the drain, and when it dissolves in a few minutes, rinse the drain under running water.

If this doesn’t work, check to see if there is a problem with the drain pop-up plug. Sometimes it is clogged with hair and debris. So see if it is opening all the way. Remove the drain pop-up plug and see if it is fully open. If the drain pop-up is clear, there could be a problem with the drain pipe behind the wall.

You can use an electric roto rooter to clear the blockage in the drain pipe. Stick it into the drain and try to dislodge the blockage by pushing it down. Stick one end of the wire into the drain. Once the cable is in the drain, rotate it. If it doesn’t work, turn the snake clockwise and once it grabs the group, do it over and over again, pull the snake up and discard the group.

Another alternative option is to use a plunger. Place the bowl plunger over the drain hole, making sure it has a good seal against the sink surface. Use quick, sharp dips to help dislodge whatever may be causing the clog.
