One of the wonderful things that I love about Aruba is the variety of restaurants. You can dine at a different ethnic restaurant every night for 2 weeks and you still have more to go. My favorite place to get a great Argentinian steak is El Gaucho’s. My husband and I were here for our honeymoon and I can tell you that neither of us had a melt-in-your-mouth steak like El Gaucho’s. We ordered the gaucho steak and at least one of us has it when we go back. I have never had a bad meal. The only drawback is that the whole place is constantly overcrowded, it seems. If you want a quiet evening, you can request one of the quieter areas, but frankly, it’s not a quiet restaurant. The staff go out of their way to be friendly and will spoil you with their own descriptions of your favorite menu items. We go back every time we are there and the food is still as wonderful (or better) as it was 10 years ago.

They recently underwent a renovation and expanded the restaurant to include a new dining room and children’s playroom with video games, Disney videos, drawing board and Legos. El Gaucho’s is located in Oranjestad and reservations are recommended. Parking isn’t great so give yourself a little extra time. They are open from Monday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 11 pm and closed on Sundays. The phone number is 297-582-3677 (if calling from the US, add 0118 to the beginning of the number). You can visit their website here. Enjoy!
