San Telmo

Review: Eight Point Five

At first I was interested in renting an apartment in Palermo or Recoleta. But then someone I had just met in Berlin told me that when I visit Buenos Aires, the place to stay is really this apartment in San Telmo. I had previously stayed in Palermo and tended to agree with him that he thought Palermo was getting too trendy and with all the new skyscrapers it didn’t have that old world charm of some of the other sections of the city. So I was able to get a reservation at Ocho Punto Cinco in San Telmo and was very happy with my choice.

Apartment Ocho Punto Cinco is located near the world famous art district and Plaza Dorrego.

I found the 800 square foot apartment to be the perfect size for me. On my previous visits, the cramped 40-50 square meter apartments in Palermo seemed too small. But here, the large, open rooms and the main queen bed (as well as the smaller bed upstairs) were perfect for me.

This apartment is in the beautiful French style. It has high ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, and custom stained glass windows. The apartment is large and airy allowing plenty of sun in the living room, study and bedroom areas. It is important not to forget the beautiful spiral staircase that leads to a storage area and also to a bedroom on the upper floor. The furniture is personalized and you also find among the modern appliances.

The overall design theme and feel of the apartment is modern classic, yet still embodies the old world charm that you can find throughout Buenos Aires. The eight point five apartment has many amenities. They include a queen-size four-poster bed, top-of-the-line bedding and blankets, a closet, and a work area that includes a desk where you can work or study. There are also wooden doors, beautiful wooden floors and the master bedroom has air conditioning. There is also a quaint kitchen corner where you can have breakfast. I also found the old fashioned bathtub very relaxing and a nice break from the city.

Individuals or families will also find modern appliances such as a washing machine, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and everything you need to prepare delicious meals. There is also cleaning service once a week, so you don’t have to worry about doing that chore yourself. This apartment is located off the main street, so you don’t have to worry about heavy traffic or noise constantly bothering you. There are also security doors inside the apartment that allow you to feel safe while you are in the city. I also appreciated that the doors would completely block out noise and light, so in case you wanted to take an afternoon nap, it would be easy to do so.

In summary, San Telmo Ocho Punto Cinco is perfect for people who plan to visit Buenos Aires and do not want to stay in a hotel.
