Have you ever visited a country where the official language is Arabic? If not, consider traveling to Morocco, Africa very soon. A country in North Africa, Morocco boasts beaches along the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Its capital city is Rabat. There is so much to see and so much to do when you arrive in this beautiful country. One of the main activities you would like to do is surfing. The country’s coastline has many areas that are great for surfing, regardless of whether you’ve done it before.

As mentioned above, there are many areas for surfers in this African country. However, before you start your trip, you need to know where you can have memorable surfing activities. The best known destination for surf lovers is Essaouira. A city that was built in the 18th century, and a true medina and port, Essaouira is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. With enough restaurants, bars, accommodation facilities, shops and art galleries, you can stay in this city as long as your visa allows.

When it comes to surf spots, Essaouira has plenty, including the Moulay Bouzerktoun in the town of Safi. It is a town that is located about thirty kilometers north of Essaouira, and has a spectacular landscape made up of sand dunes, beaches, hills, streams and plains. When Cherqui, the north wind, is very light, advanced surfers can surf easily. Sidi Kaouki, about twenty-five kilometers south of Essaouira, is another perfect destination for passionate surfers. Accessing via the road to Agadir, Sidi Kaouki’s main surf spots are located in an area where Berbers occupy.

Many free surf zones are offered here, as well as classes for tourists who have never done it before. For beginners, a small to medium swell is safe and less challenging and can be found at the Mausoleum beach break. Essaouira Bay is also perfect for beginners or tourists who want to surf for fun. The big waves are usually found in the far south, where kite flying and other wind sports also take place. Many affordable lessons are also offered at this popular location.

One can’t go wrong with Plage Safi too, a large beach area with rocky slabs. It often offers strong, powerfully curly waves for advanced surfers. Less advanced surfers can enjoy when there is a bit of a swell for safety reasons. Imsouane is a fishing port that also supports water sports. The town can be accessed in just an hour and a half drive from another surf town called Taghazout. You will not only be able to camp in a calm, beautiful and paradisiacal place but also surf an incredible wave.

A surfer’s paradise, Imsouane Bay boasts the longest beach break in Africa, which is also among the most admired in the world. If you haven’t surfed before, and consider yourself a novice, don’t leave Morocco without visiting Devils Rock. It offers left and right waves and a safe sandy bottom for a beginner like you. After a session, head to one of the local restaurants for a hassle-free relaxation and delicious local cuisine.
