Regardless of how cute your pup is when you bring him home, resist the urge to delay potty training until later. Even very young puppies can be successfully potty trained.
A drawer
A puppy crate is a very useful tool for potty training your dog. A crate gives your dog his own “space” that he doesn’t want to mess up, especially at night. Be sure to give him plenty of opportunities and encouragement to go to the bathroom before he is locked up.

You may be tempted to buy cheap dog food, but you will most likely regret it in the end. Cheap dog foods are full of fillers. Since fillers cannot be digested and processed into fuel, they pass through your dog’s digestive system causing gas and creating large amounts of feces. Higher quality dog foods don’t have as much filler, so your dog passes much smaller stools
Schedule A
Setting a schedule for your puppy early on will go a long way in potty training him. Feeding should be done at the same time each day and then taken outside to relieve itself 15-20 minutes after eating. He should also be given the opportunity to go outside after naps and immediately after being taken out of his cage in the morning.
Release
Set words that your dog can learn to associate with relieving himself. Use that word constantly to avoid confusing him. It’s also important to know your dog’s signs that he needs to go outside; Restlessness, sniffing (especially in places where he may have had an accident at some point), or going to the door can be signs that your dog needs to go.
Reinforcement
When your puppy is doing well, praise him. Using the word he has come to associate with elimination, “potty outside good boy” will help him strengthen the connection between going to the bathroom and being praised.
Successful dog potty training requires patience and persistence, but the rewards are well worth it. Well-behaved dogs are a joy to both their owners and those around them.
