It’s not easy becoming a Navy SEAL. It demands incredible strength, enthusiasm plus a SEAL training session often referred to as ‘Hell Week’! All would-be Navy SEALs are required to undergo a complete physical examination, after which numerous intense exercise programs are carried out.

1. Physical screening test

This is the mandatory requirement for It’s so hard to pass this test that all the candidates almost always sell out soon after! Initially, candidates will be required to swim 500 yards of breaststroke or sidestroke in just 12.5 minutes. This is followed by a 10 minute break and then 42 push ups must be done in 2 minutes! After a short 2-minute rest, they must do 50 sit-ups in 2 minutes, followed again by a two-minute rest. Next, a sequence of 6 pull-ups should be performed. It is accompanied by a ten minute break and the next 1.5 miles should be covered in 11.5 minutes. These are the minimum tests needed to analyze your fitness level.

2. Training sessions

As soon as the candidate has completed the physical screening test, a strict set of training sessions follows. The exercise and training of the SEALs consists of 3 phases. The start is a standard underwater demolition twenty five week training course. This will be accompanied by extreme four-week military parachute training. The third phase then includes a 19-week program of SEAL qualification training. Compared to other training course periods, this training lasts 11 months, making it probably the longest in the world. It is also said to be the most challenging as SEALs’ fitness levels are guaranteed and they must stay in good shape to pass these physical tests.

Seeing all the things mentioned above, SEALs can have excellent fitness and capabilities compared to ordinary people. That is the reason why many people want to have a physical condition similar to that of Navy SEALs. The problem is that not everyone can have access to SEAL training courses, except if they join the Navy.
