Weightlifting

Let’s not forget weight lifting. It is one of the essential elements that will help you improve your game. The benefits of lifting weights lie in the added strength, but more importantly, it will increase your maximum power. Maximum power should be the goal of your training, as it involves muscle strength and muscle movement during play. A strong and powerful execution will allow for quick plays, quick action, and recognition on the field. We highly recommend working with a personal trainer when lifting weights to make sure you’re doing it correctly and to help you design a program that fits your position.

Keep hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is all that is needed to prevent dehydration and therefore should be an important part of soccer practices. Each athlete must bring or have a water bottle, and they must use it frequently. Water should never be used as a motivational or reward type base. When players are hydrated and energized, they will practice more and learn more.

Powerful blocking strategy: double team

In various plays, whether you’re on offense or defense, you’ll want to have a strategic advantage over your opponents. A great technique that will give you an advantage down the lane is the double team block. It’s basically putting two linemen in one. If you ever need to run again or pull off a big blitz, remember this technique. The basics are simple for this technique: first, both players will need to walk together and lock their hips together. They form a wall that the opponent cannot break. The double team should focus on the opponent’s shoulders and armpits to control dominance. To be effective, the double team has to work on a quick, blitz-like maneuver.

Traditional driving block

Simple units are important for linemen to practice and perfect. Hence the name of the most common unit – the unit block. This driving block means that you are going to push the opponent in the direction that he is lined up. If the defensive lineman is aligned slightly to the right of the offensive linemen, then the drive block pushes the defender to the right. When executing this block, start with your play-side foot, which means that if play is on your right side, it will be your right foot. Connect hard against your opponent, bring your other foot into play, and continue to move in the aligned direction.
