Leatherworking is not usually considered a gold-making profession. If you have or are considering leveling up Leatherworking, you should know that you can actually make a fair amount of gold out of it. You can make armor kits for characters of all levels, you can make extremely powerful leg enchantments for level 85 characters, and all of this you can do while making a steady profit every day without flying around Uldum or the Twilight Highlands collecting herbs or minerals. .

Armor kits are enchantments that add resistance to an item’s head, chest, shoulder, leg, or hand. These are most often consumed and used by characters leveling up and don’t want to spend the extra gold to get the most optimal enchantments on their gear. Tanks leveling up will especially like the armor kits. The problem is that there may be a lot of armor kits released for lower tiers, as armor kits are often made for the Leatherworking tier.
The Savage and Heavy Savage armor kits are the most valuable of all. They cost no more than Savage and Heavy Savage Leather, which you can buy cheaply from the trade or off the auction house. You can create them in bulk and use a plugin like Auction Profit Master to automatically post them to the auction house at the next best price and always guarantee a profit.

There are all kinds of leg armor, the ones you want to focus on are level 85, including: Scorched, Twilight, Dragonscale, and Charscale Leg Armor. Scorched and Twilight are rare quality leg armor that is much cheaper to craft, costing only Savage Leather and Volatile Fire or Water. These sell fast on the auction house, but they’ll still make a nice profit. The Dragonscale and Charscale leg armors are epic quality and cost a Pristine Hide, which can be a bit pricey, as well as Blackened Dragonscale or Volatile Fire. These epic quality enchantments are the best available in the game, so they will sell for the lowest price per one. You can make a hundred or more gold profit from these if you get the materials at the right prices.
Leather equipment and mail
There are also a ton of leather and chain mail items available to craft and sell on the auction house. There are 4 PvP sets: Bloody Dragon Scales, Leather, Scales, and Wyrmskin. There are also capes and some assorted epic quality gear available to craft. PvP gear is the best seller, you can select a set that you think will sell on your auction house and make 2-3 pieces of each piece to post on Auction Profit Master. Set it up so you don’t have to worry about manually reposting them every day and let the plugin do the rest.
The epic quality gear you can make, around level 500-525, requires Chaos Orbs, which are hard to come by. Since, as of this writing, you have to farm your own Chaos Orbs from heroes (this is likely to change), you need to find a buyer for this gear before crafting it. You can really make a big price increase on this piece of equipment. You will need to visit the Twilight Highlands and be level 84 before you can purchase this gear.
