This is a 2 part series regarding terms used in search engine optimization (SEO). If you missed the first part, read about it as it is the ideal place to start. Without further ado, I will continue with the terms.

Free reprint of articles

These are articles written by you and published on article submission directories for free that can also be used by other webmasters for free. However, reprinting of your articles is done on the condition that you must keep all anchor texts, including links to your website; therefore driving even more “organic” traffic to your site.

Google PageRank (PR)

This literally means the importance and relevance of a website from Google’s point of view. In general, the ranks will be from 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest and 10 being the lowest. You can see the PR of any site by downloading the Google toolbar.

Keywords and keyword phrases

A word or phrase that Internet users use to search for related information. For example, when a user types “Search Engine Optimization Services,” the entire term would be combined to be tagged as “keyword phrases.” It is also the term that you will use on your site to match the searches of these users in order to bring them to your site. By contrast, a keyword refers to a single word; for example, “locksmith”. That being said, keywords are harder to rank for compared to keyword phrases, as the former are considered more generic.

links

Links can come in the form of text or images and will take visitors from one page to another by clicking on it. Most of the time, these text links are highlighted and differ from other body text and the like. There are also many different forms of links such as one way links, two way links and many more.

link exchange

Link exchange is just what the name suggests. It is the process of exchanging links by two different webmasters from two different websites. This is often done by two websites that are related in niche and content, as it contributes to the weight/importance of the links in the eyes of Google’s algorithm. For example, a website that offers music lessons might exchange links with a website that offers musical instruments for sale. They are said to be relevant. By contrast, a music class website and a running shoe website are irrelevant.

This concludes our 2 part series on terms related to search engine optimization. It goes without saying that there are many more terms that are related and important for you to understand in order to be successful in your internet home business.
