Taking public transportation for fun sounds crazy, right? Public transportation, be it buses, trains, or other modes of transportation, is not what most people think of when they think of entertainment. However, public transport, even in areas with relatively poor or poor transport service, offers a great and inexpensive way to have fun while exploring your city, region or neighborhood.
Transit is cheap:
Fares and fares for public transportation vary by region and from city to city, and also vary by distance traveled and mode of transportation, but fares tend to be quite low, especially when compared to other forms of entertainment. . Do you want to see a movie in the cinema? Expect to spend $10 per person, even if you don’t buy any food. You want to go to eat? Unless you’re buying fast food, $5-7 is cheap. And if you want something big like a theme park, a fancy restaurant, or tickets to an opera, symphony, or play, expect to pay through the nose.
Public transport is very cheap. It ranges from free in some areas to as high as $20 for long-distance rail travel. If you’re talking about a bus or subway ride, you won’t pay more than $2 each way.
Meet interesting people, get interesting stories:
People often marvel at some of the weird and funny stories I tell about my experiences riding buses and trains. A simple fact is true: If I never traveled on public transport, I would never have any of these stories.. When you travel by bus, you never know who is going to be on it. If you ride your bike often enough, you’re bound to hear some really funny stuff… and if you’re a good storyteller, you’ll be able to make people laugh over and over again with some of the things you see or some of the conversations you hear.
Explore your community while protecting the environment:
Public transportation allows you to explore your community in ways that cars cannot. When you ride a bus or elevated rail track, you have a different view of the street and highway, and of the community as a whole. You’ll often notice shops or other community features that you may have missed while driving, or even while riding as a passenger in a car.
But perhaps most importantly, public transportation allows you to experience all of the things mentioned above in a way that protects the environment and helps keep cars off the road. When you ride public transit, you provide financial support to the transit agency by paying your fare, and you also make it more likely that you and others will ride in the future, as you learn the routes in your area.
In summary:
It may seem completely ridiculous, but I think that public transport is a awesome way to have fun And at the very least, even if you disagree with me on my other points, you can’t argue with the fact that it’s very cheap. Try it!
