The words perchero and perchero are used interchangeably and historically they are more or less the same, but technically there are differences. The traditional coat rack or coat rack is a freestanding base with a pole that resembles a tree with multiple branches protruding from the pole. Popularized in Victorian England, coat racks could be found in the foyers of prosperous houses throughout England at the time. Having a piece of furniture that was just to hang your hat or coat was considered a luxury during those times of depression and grew in popularity in Europe and the United States until the 1950s. Typically, the stand will be about 5 feet tall and the base needs to be sturdy and heavy to support the weight of the items that will be placed on it. The difference between the two types may be small, but there is a difference. A coat rack will have multiple short branches coming off the center pole. These limbs will normally be arranged from the top to the bottom of the support. A coat rack, on the other hand, will generally have longer branches leading from the center pole and will be smaller than a coat rack and run towards the top of the pole. A coat rack will need to have a heavy base to support heavy coats. Of course, most hat racks also double as coat racks and have some shorter legs at the top to accommodate hats.
Regardless of your choice, you’ll need to have room for one of these mounts. While they don’t take up a lot of space on their own, items placed on top of them will usually quadruple their volume, so you need room to accommodate one. If you don’t have the space, fear not, there are alternatives. Many people opt for a wall coat rack or coat racks. These take up much less space and attach directly to the wall so everyone has room for these types of racks.

From traditional to ultra-modern, you can find a stand to suit your design needs and add an extra touch to your décor. Prices can vary greatly depending on the material used and the quality, but finding a reasonably priced coat rack or coat rack is doable with a little research.
