listen to the call

“Once a future hero has been called and has agreed to accept the quest, a helper/mentor appears. First, a mentor is challenged to teach the hero a set of skills in the hope that the hero can overcome the challenges that he has.ll soon face.Second, the mentor helps the hero define the quest, at least as far as is known.Next, the mentor helps the hero understand how he should grow and evolve. [and heal] if the quest is successful and helps the hero come to terms with doubt and fear.” -Susan Pesznecker

Is being a healer part of your life purpose? And if so, where are you on the hero’s journey for healers?

The hero’s journey for healers

If you know Joseph Campbell, author of The hero with a thousand facesYou’ve probably already heard of the hero’s journey. She starts with listening to a call and answering it. This call begins a search and a journey that comes with many challenges to overcome, but provides help along the way. It ends with victory and coming home to yourself in a deeper way than ever.

I believe that the story of the journey is different for each person, but that there are general steps you can expect as you begin your own quest as a healer and lightworker.

Step one: Hear the call to be a healer and answer it. Make a decision and a commitment to do whatever it takes to live your purpose. Starting the quest that will change your own life and empower you to help others do the same.

Second step: Seek guidance and wisdom as you begin your quest to discover more about your purpose and what it will require of you. Who, how and what are you supposed to heal? What is the best way to be useful?

Step three: Heal and resolve the challenges of the past or current life that have been blocking you, preventing you from being clear about your purpose and living it fully. The healing process can take time, but it is truly the first step on the path to total freedom in life as a healer. For this part of the search, you become your first customer.

Step four: Creating the vision and plan that will allow you to transform your life into one that tells the story it was meant to tell, playing the role written just for you as we all work together to heal the planet.

Step five: Create a daily practice that keeps your vision alive and brings you ever closer to being exactly who you came here to be and doing exactly what you came here to do. Coming home to yourself in a way that clarifies and supports your soul’s deep awareness of who you are and what you are meant to do.

Now that you’ve read those steps, do you recognize a bit of your own journey? Where are you on that quest?
