In Matthew 12: 24-30, the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan / Beelzebub and Jesus goes on to explain this. See how this parable comes to life with simple teaching.
This is called the parable of the divided Kingdom. This stems from something that Jesus did. Jesus was always doing Kingdom things and rubbing certain people the wrong way and we get it in Matthew 12: 24-30. He says:
“Then they brought him one who was demon-possessed, blind, and dumb”;
So this means that he had demons in him that made him react. He was blind and could not speak. The writing goes on to say:
“And he healed him, so that the blind and the dumb spoke and saw. And the whole crowd was amazed and said,” Could this be the Son of David? “
What is one way of saying, “Could this be the Messiah?”
“When the Pharisees heard it, they said:” This one does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons. “
But Jesus knew their thoughts and told them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. Does the kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore, they will be your judges. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, certainly the Kingdom of God has come upon you. Or How can one enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods, if he does not first bind the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. “
Now it’s interesting. Abroad, witch doctors have the power to heal. Witch doctors can heal people from demonic oppression. It seems that the Hindu religion and the different religions have certain spiritual people who can do certain spiritual things. It seems that Satan can do these things in his own Kingdom. But what happens is that it seems to bring people even more together. Through the power of the witch doctor, they all grant more power to the demons and more power to the witch doctor. Satan wins in the end because everyone worships the gods and everyone worships the witch doctor and Satan is in control.
Jesus said: “Each kingdom is divided against each other, it is desolate and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” You only need, and I mean it with love, but you only need a lover who does not love you to break a marriage. Every divided house will not stand.
I heard a story about a man who got sick all the time and had to go to the hospital all the time because he couldn’t eat. They would put a drip in it and after two months in intensive care, it would come out again. Once again, he got sick and couldn’t eat. I would go to the hospital. He had been to the hospital about five times. Then he called this preacher named Andrew Wommack at his home and said, “Can you help me?”
Andrew saw someone coming out of the house when he arrived, a woman. And the boy described his condition. Andrew says, “I don’t know of any reason.” The Holy Spirit had told this man to invite Andrew and he would find the reason for his illness. He told Andrew about the illness. And Andrew said, “Well, the Holy Spirit could have told him, but I don’t know why. Let’s pray.”
Andrew began to pray for the boy. He was two sentences away from prayer and the Holy Spirit said to Andrés: “The problem is his mother-in-law. His mother-in-law is always cursing him.”
And Andrew finished the sentence, he says, “Who was that who was leaving? Was that your mother-in-law?”
And he said, “Yes.”
He said, “Does she treat you well?”
He said, “Oh, she is always here, saying that I am not good for her family and that I am not good and she always curses me. So I cannot work and I will always be sick.”
He said, “She says all these things and what else does she say?”
Andrew heard that the mother was speaking sick curses on the man.
Andrew said, “You have to get rid of that mother-in-law. You can’t be fine and let her into your house. You’ll still be sick. She’s the problem.”
So the man did that and was healed and stayed that way.
Now what am I saying? I’m not going to press charges against mothers-in-law. I’m just saying that a house divided against itself cannot stand. The wife has to choose her mother or her husband.
Jesus said, the Scripture says in the Old Testament, Genesis, “That is why a man will leave his mother and father, he will be united to his wife and the two will be one.” Many problems in marriages occur because the man or woman has not left their parents. The in-laws are always bothering with their business and giving advice. Mothers and fathers should remove their hands and let the boy become a man and solve his own life.
So Jesus was using that illustration saying that Satan cannot operate his Kingdom in this way. He was saying something like, “I can’t be healing people and casting out demons with the power of Satan. I mean, wherever I go, I cast out all demons. Satan would be losing the battle because I keep breaking his kingdom.”
He went on to say that there were exorcists that existed in the Jew. Jesus said to them, “By whom do your children cast them out? They will be your judges.” The people who cast out demons in Jewish life will be the judges of the Pharisees to see which side the Pharisees were on. They could judge why the demons were coming out for them and those people will be able to recognize that Jesus Christ was casting them out through the Spirit of God.
Jesus went out to say: “If I cast you out by the spirit of God, then certainly the Kingdom of God has come upon you.”
So the Pharisees were commanded to be judged by the people who were casting out demons in their own faith or to accept that Jesus was casting them out by the Spirit of God.
Now Jesus goes on to say that by binding strong men and you can plunder their goods. Then he goes on to say: “He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.”
Jesus was saying in effect, “If you are not with me, guys, you are against me. You cannot sit on the fence. You cannot sit on the fence on this subject or any other subject. You have to accept that I am the Son of God. You have to accept that I am the son of David, as they say I am. You have to look at the signs and wonders that I am doing and say to yourself surely this man has the power of God. Surely this man has the authority. This man is making the blind to see, making the deaf speak, casting out demons. He is doing miraculous signs, the signs of a prophet. And this prophet affirms that he is the Son of God. “
This is what this parable is talking about. Is Jesus the Son of God for you? Is Jesus the son of David? Was he born to David? Was he a descendant of David, the King of Israel as the Messiah was going to descend? Was Jesus Really the Messiah? Is Jesus the Messiah?
So what is the practical application? It means if you are mute, if you cannot speak the gospel, you are mute, if you are blind, if you do not understand the gospel and you are blind to the gospel, if you are demon possessed or demon possessed or affected by wrong theology or voices wrong things that speak to you, all of these things can be resolved through Jesus Christ. Blindness, spiritual blindness, can be corrected by being led by Jesus to the truth. Silence, the ability not to witness to your friends, not to share the Gospel with your friends, which can be corrected with a proper relationship with Jesus, a proper teaching of Jesus can give you confidence. You can have the joy, the love, the life that will give you confidence and give you a testimony so you can use it to testify.
Many people do not testify in this world because they have nothing to testify about. Many people in this world do not share your convictions. They do not share their faith with other people because they are sad and depressed themselves.
There are no more than 50% of Christians living in health, vitality and prosperity and living a life in which they feel fulfilled and loved.
