Future of Yamuna Expressway Authority and Residential Plots

The Yamuna Authority plot, located in the centre of the city, is one among the major projects of the South Auckland City Council. The authority has been granted permission by the chief executive to undertake the project, which includes tearing down fences and creating a six-lane expressway to connect arterial roads in Whangaparaoa with the existing Ring Road. It also intends to demolish and reconstruct two-lane motorway and connect the north and south stretches of the existing South Tarawera-Boren Avenue. This will form the expressway that links Mt Maunganui, Papamoa, Te Puna and Papamoa to Papamoa.

Yamuna Authority plots

A major portion of the project involves tearing down and replacing the existing railway line between the intersection of Papamoa Road and Ring Road. Removing the railings will allow the expressway to be constructed at the planned six lanes. The other important segment of the project involves building two-lane motorway and one-lane kerbside road. The removal of the existing traffic signals at intersections and creation of new traffic signals for the six lanes and two-lanes will enable the project to complete all its objectives, such as, improving traffic flow and increasing the capacity of the transport system. Also, these new signals will help reduce accidents and improve safety.

The first phase of the project involves widening the Yamuna Authority plot by 300 square meters. The south and western portions of the southern section of the road will be widened by constructing a two-lane motorway and one-lane kerbside. The remaining parts of the road will be completed by connecting the southbound and the westbound approaches by means of underground tunnels. The four major districts of the film city, Whangaparaoa, Papamoa, Te Puna and Hanmer are included in the construction zone. In addition, the extension of the South Link Road, which connects the East and West Link Road, will also be done in order to increase traffic on the expressway.

Three Stages in Developing Plans For the Future of Yamuna Expressway Authority and Residential Plots in India

The second phase of the project involves the construction of three-lane segment of the road. Three new roads will be built between the north and the south sides of the plot, and one new lane will be built on the southwest part of the property. A connection of the present day Bus Way and the proposed bus lane will also be made. Another two-lane and two-kilometer road segment, running from south to north and west to east will be constructed. This will facilitate easier land acquisition for the project.

The third phase involves constructing the next two-lane and one-kilometer road segments. The remaining part of the road will connect the present day Business Connector to the third ring road that will form the boundary of the residential plot. This will facilitate easy land acquisition for the project.

If all goes well, construction of the Yamuna expressway authority and the Yamuna Authority plot should start within a year. Full opening is expected around twenty-four years from now. Once operational, the residents of Yeida will be able to travel to nearby towns and cities via the public transport system. A bus lane will run from the south side of town to the north. The planned rail link between Hyderabad and Secunderabad should also be completed by the end of the decade.
