Trout fishing is believed to be close to the most popular types of fishing. This is mainly because they are found almost everywhere! However, there are different types of trout, each of which is found in different geographic locations and habitats.

For example, brook trout are found from Labrador to western Saskatchewan; while, on the other hand, the fish known as rainbow trout has its habitat in an area of the Pacific, from California to Alaska.

Brown trout have recently started moving into habitats they are also not native to. In fact, they have moved to most areas of the United States. The only states that do not yet spawn trout are Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Texas, and Oklahoma. Brown trout are also found in a wide range of areas in Canada. So, as you can see, finding the fish is not a problem when it comes to trout fishing.

Regardless of the abundance of fish, you’ll still need a plan – these are very sneaky fish! Here are some things to consider when fishing for trout.

1. Don’t grease your leader. When he is oiled up and floats, he could possibly cast shadows on fish that would scare them away. Don’t worry, it won’t sink deep enough to cause any real problems.

2. Trout must be fished both in the current and in the pools. While this may cause the fly to sink or drag, it will be worth using this trick.

3. Don’t float upstream. You must make your cast to the other side of the river so that the fly only floats over your prey.

4. Always fish the bottom pools first, no matter where the trout appear to be. Make you throw your best first. Eating trout will look for the first lure they see, as long as it is right over their own area.

5. There is no more effective way to fish for trout. They are finicky fish and change their minds frequently, so you may need to use a different type of fly each time you go fishing. You never know what the trout will be in the mood for.

If you try to use these tips, your fishing experience will be rewarding and fun.
