Corporate photography has managed to become probably one of the most important parts of the marketing and advertising campaign of any company. Photographers are responsible for creating photographs that become a very important part of communication with internal employees, external businesses, and clients. That said, a corporate photographer is under a lot of pressure to produce vivid, strong, and often easy to understand images that communicate what the business is about. Photographers are also required to keep everything they do for a business confidential by signing a confidentiality agreement. For example, photographers working for major automakers often produce photos of upcoming models, but may not reveal anything about these cars. These images are kept confidential until the public launch of a vehicle.

Audience perception

Many companies, both large and small, understand how the public perceives them and how they want their products to be perceived. However, to be perceived in a certain way by the public, corporate photos must be intelligently designed with these goals in mind. For example, a company that sells clothing for teenagers will want to have images that are fresh, cheerful, and modern. Similarly, if they were targeting corporate employees, they would want more professional, traditional yet vivid images to grab attention.

Types of corporate photography

There are mainly two main types of commercial photography. Most photographers will claim that they specialize in both macro photography and general photography, but the fact is that there are some who actually specialize in both. That said, businesses that sell a product like shoes, hats, watches, or cell phones will want to hire an expert macro photographer to shoot the items they sell. But this macro photographer will also need to have the experience and talent to take pictures that include models wearing these items. This is where the line between the two types of photography blurs. However, most experts have years of experience with both types, but may be better at one or choose to focus on one type over the other. Either way, it’s always a good idea to hire a photographer with a lot of experience.

Photographers who specialize in corporate portraits, product photography, and general photography are very expensive. However, only a few truly have the talent and experience to capture their product or service in a way that will attract a lot of attention. You’ll also want to hire someone who can shoot for the internet and social media, a medium where small photos should tell a big story.
