Now, in the game of basketball, each player that plays on the court is assigned a position such as point guard, shooting guard, forward, power forward, and center.

Here is a definition so you can more easily understand how the positions work.

Point guard: In general, the point guard can be considered the shortest player on the team, but that does not mean that the point guard will always be the shortest player on the team. Although the point guard is not necessarily a shooter, he is the one who passes and handles the ball the most. Their job is to get the ball to the opposing team’s side of the rim and they must stay near the top of the key ready to get the rebound if a teammate misses a 2-point shot or if the ball bounces off the rim after a 3 point attempt. This person runs the offense and also calls the plays. The point guard in this way can also be called a “coach on the floor”.

Shooting Guard – They are usually taller than the point guard, but again, that may not always be the case. The escort is exactly how you imagine what the word escort comes to mind. They are most likely the best perimeter shooters on the team, the shooting guard can shoot the ball from the 2 or 3 point line after a successful screen. They also try to grab the rebound after trying to take a shot and knowing that the shot was missed.

Forward: The forward could be considered the all-in-one player. They are offensive, strong, able to dribble the ball and shoot as well, so they are well balanced. They are able to score from the perimeter and from within.

Power forward: The power forward can be seen as a bulky player, he must be able to catch quick passes and missed shots, basically, he is the rebounder of the team. They usually stay close to the basket to find a hole, recover the pass and finish off with a dunk. If the power forward is a good rebounder, rebounding off missed shots can make a big difference to your team’s scores.

Center: The player who is the center can usually always be seen next to the end line, near the basket. The taller player is usually assigned the role of being the center. They must know how to aggressively rebound as well as hook shots. The power forward can be considered as the center because they have similar roles, but the power forward is more aggressive. A similar role to the center is that of power forward.
