What is the best way to exercise the body, firm up and enjoy the outdoors? We all remember the excitement of learning to ride a bike for the first time. Obesity would be a thing of the past if we could get our kids off the couch, away from video games, and let them ride bikes like we did growing up.

Now it’s time to get back on the two-wheeler and use it to strengthen your heart. It’s a quiet way to commune with mother nature and enjoy the beasts passing in front of you because you’re not making much noise. Riding a bike outdoors is a huge distance eater as you go faster and faster and cause the miles to dwindle behind you.

Always wear the helmet that the law says you need because, just like driving a car, you must drive defensively. If you’re riding in a park, it’s still a good idea to try to be as safe as possible. They have races for people when they get fit, or just ride with a friend or two and pick a destination and go to lunch.

This is a form of transportation that I used to get to work when work was not that far away. You don’t even need to think of it as exercise.

It doesn’t matter if you’re outside or inside, your heart gets all the oxygen it needs to stay strong. When you cycle around the house, it becomes boring even though you know you are doing something to help your health in the future.

Indoor biking can be made more enjoyable with tapes from the library as you watch the scenery go by as if you were out on the ride with the other cyclists. You are traveling in the mountains and seeing places you have never been and putting your body in a great healthy state at the same time.

Remember that your heart is as big as your fist and if your package gets bigger, your heart doesn’t and it has to work that much harder to keep you full of life and vigor. Stay healthy for yourself, your family, and everyone who loves you for you.
