Are you planning to retire in the not too distant future? Maybe you should start planning now. One of the most important ways you can do this is to make sure you have a place to live when you retire. Have you ever thought about buying a condo along a stretch of your favorite beach? That would really make you want to retire. Why the beach? Let’s review this.

If you have never been a fan of the beach, then an oceanfront condo is not for you. Nevertheless; If you are one of those people who enjoys all the advantages that the beach has to offer, then you will be happy to have a house there. Maybe you love to watch the waves roll in, collect seashells, watch the sun rise or set over the water. Here are some personal reasons why you might want to live there. There are also some more practical ones; For example, if you’re thinking of renting (or reselling) it, a beachside spot may be highly desirable to a potential renter. It would also be worth a lot more money than a condo without a beach.

Why buy a condo instead of a house (near the beach?) If you are going to be living there with a large family, then you will WANT a house to accommodate them. Nevertheless; If it’s just you and maybe your spouse, then a condo is much smaller and easier to keep clean than a house. Plus, you wouldn’t have to worry about maintaining a garden. If you choose to live on any of the higher floors, your view will be much more spectacular than if you are in a house with only one or two floors.

The best reason of all to buy a beachfront condo is for your sheer pleasure. Perhaps this is something you have always dreamed of doing. In that case, go ahead! If you’re lucky enough to have a work-from-home career, don’t wait until you retire – move into your oceanfront condo now! Think how nice it will be to sit on your patio or deck and watch the seabirds fly by. Or maybe walk on the beach every night with your partner under the moonlight. If you live there, the beach will never be closed to you. If you have children, you can designate in your will that you want this property to be left to them after your death. So they too can enjoy it for many years.

A word of caution when selecting a beachfront condo, make sure it has provisions to ward off the effects of a storm surge if there is ever a major storm there. Perhaps it should be a considerable distance from the ground and/or have a suitable construction that will not collapse in a storm. After all, this is something that could definitely happen. You don’t want to lose your investment in your beachfront condo, do you? The best thing you can do is make sure your condo is properly prepared, in case such a storm strikes.
