Two racist tirades by a white woman in Torrance, California have recently gone viral. She is confronted by a young Asian American woman who is exercising in a public park. For no logical reason, the woman starts a racist tirade and tells the woman to go back to the Asian country she was from (using some expletives intertwined with her tirade).
The young woman had been videotaping her training session, so the racist woman was caught on camera making her hateful rant. However, she yells at the young woman to put it on Facebook as she continues her tirade. She tells the young woman that her family is going to go after her. The woman is called “major” in the reports. In reality, she apparently is 56 years old. She is not that old, and it has been discovered that she has a Hispanic-sounding last name.
The ranting racist woman must have serious prejudice and hatred towards people of Asian descent as others have reached out telling of their experiences with the same woman. A man had videotaped an encounter he and her eleven-year-old son had with her earlier that day. That video has gone viral just like the first one. There are likely many more times this woman has delivered her racist tirades without being caught on film.
Is it just hatred for people who are different that made this woman continue her racist tirades or is it sheer stupidity? The question is if she is racist against some minority or if she has something against those of Asian origin. It is strange that in the second video of the racist woman, she gets into her Japanese car to leave. That sounds stupid. She has become famous or infamous.
Since almost everyone these days has a camera cell phone, the general public easily take videos. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube of people making racist tirades against people who look different from them. Yes, racism is alive and well in the United States.
There is too much hate in this world and it is probably impossible to eradicate racism because of people like the woman in the video. Although there are many more white people who are currently protesting and speaking out against racism, there can always be these types of ignorant, intolerant, hateful, and arrogant people (even without reason) in this world.
Blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Muslims, and LGBTQ people are all too often the targets of racist attacks and tirades by people they hate. Blacks have it worse, as everyone would agree, but people of other ethnicities and anyone perceived to be different can be a target for racism. The racism exhibited in the recent past against black men has intensified. Many have received media and public attention, including the killing of George Floyd’s victims by a Minneapolis police officer, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
Although no one condones rioting, looting, destroying property, and harming others, people in power need to heed peaceful protest to bring attention to racial inequalities in this country to make change. There should be fairness and justice in this world without people having to put up with racism.
