It’s true? Can the sexual position determine the sex of the baby?

The myths, lies, wives tales and hoaxes floating around trying to link sexual positions to the specific gender of the baby have been around for years, probably as long as they’ve been making babies! I’m sure you’ve probably already read a few. Have you gotten any answers that sounded even partially plausible?

Some of my research on how to elicit the specific gender of the baby through intercourse positions has resulted in leading scientific institutions publicly stating that they have no research proving one way or the other.

However, I think I can show you some physiological logic that may make some practical sense, and perhaps offer some practical solutions to choosing the gender of your baby through specific sexual positions.

It has been scientifically proven that male sperm (those with a “Y” chromosome) are fast swimmers, champions of speed, but with a short life of about 24 hours. The female sperm (the ones with an “X”), are the long-distance athletes. They don’t move as fast as males, but they can live much longer, typically up to 72 hours in a female’s body.

If you want a boy, all you have to do is make sure that a sperm with a “Y” chromosome fertilizes the waiting egg, that’s it! On the other hand, if the egg is fertilized by a sperm carrying an “X” chromosome, then you bet on a beautiful girl! Most experts say that whatever sperm fertilizes the egg is a random event, no one has any control over the event. But, given the differences in sperm, is this really true? Is it really random?

Now that we know these basic characteristics, logic can reveal which sexual positions can take advantage of the strengths of any of the sperm.

how to make a child

If you want to have a baby boy, you have to make it as easy as possible for the Y-chromosome sperm to win the race to the egg. With great speed, but with a short life, that male sperm must be deposited as close as possible to the egg. In this case, the good old missionary position is best: with maximum penetration and the woman on her back to allow as clear a path as possible. To get the best results when the man ejaculates, the woman should move her legs as close to her breasts as possible.

Also, some say that timing is just as important as sexual position. The closer intercourse is to ovulation, the better chance you have of having a boy. Have frequent intercourse about a day before ovulation. To ensure the sperm count is as high as possible, have the man wear underpants – heat destroys sperm and you want plenty of sperm for successful implantation.

how to make a girl

Given what we know about man vs. female sperm, you want none or very few male sperm to reach the egg. So, to give yourself the best chance for a girl, you should deposit sperm farther from the egg, so that the male sperm “die” early, allowing the slower but longer-lasting female sperm to reach the egg. Shallow penetration should be used here, usually from the rear (doggy style).

Once again, there is also the problem of time. Since female sperm is a slow swimmer, you’ll want to deliver sperm no sooner than 4 days before ovulation. And you ovulate around day 14 of your cycle. This method again uses time, taking advantage of the slower but longer-lived sperm to make a girl. The idea is to have the sperm ready and in the fallopian tube as the egg is released. Don’t forget: no sex for a week afterward! You can throw some fast swimmers into the mix and get yourself a boy!

No matter what you’ve heard if sexual position can determine the sex of the baby, there seems to be some truth to the myths. No guarantees, of course. But logic and reasoning would tell us that it might be possible.

It doesn’t matter if you end up with a boy or a girl, just be thankful that he or she was born healthy and happy into a loving family!
