What you see: The moment you enter Dastar, the fairy tale world of Arabian Nights will flood your mind. Well, almost… except for a missing group of belly dancers!

Dastar offers you the option to sit outside or enjoy a cozy meal indoors. If you opt for the former, you can enjoy your meal with a view of KBR park, and if you like indoors, the private dining rooms are quite comfortable.

What You Get: The restaurant’s specialty is the Arabic food it serves, though Chinese and Indian food is also on offer. However, it has more variety in non-vegetarian food than in vegetarian. So vegetables could stick to (and savor!) Vegetable Manchow Soup, Masala Kulcha, Sesame Paneer, Garlic Naan, Fried Rice and the like.

For non-vegetarians, the Shorba Dijaj, a chicken-based soup, and the Shorba khudra, a starter, are a delight. If you prefer a bland meal, you can opt for Hummus (chickpeas in sesame paste) or try the Muttbel, a vegetable-based starter for something spicier.

But if you don’t like to experiment and prefer something that suits the Indian palate, then Arabian kebabs, Aishwalahm (a rice dish with fried lamb chunks) and Dijaj mafrum (baked chicken) are safe bets. The price range is affordable here.

The verdict: we liked this restaurant for its uniqueness, both in the atmosphere and in the variety of food. We prefer to recommend it to non-vegetarians than to vegetarians because of the variety they offer for the former.

What you pay for a meal for two: 500 rupees (without wines).
