Date of birth: June 12, 1983

Country: South Africa

Bryan Habana is one of the stars of both the Super 14 and international rugby, and has endeared himself to all the South African Springbok fans. Playing on the wing for the Blue Bulls and Springboks, he is a fear for any team with his devastating speed and strength, add to that his handling skills and the ability to intercept passes seemingly at will, and he has an impressive game-winner of extreme in your hands.

Habana began his rugby playing days at Meredale Primary School in Johannesburg and later transferred to King Edward School. He already showed his talent at these levels, but he really started to get noticed when he signed with the Golden Lions team. He was noticed by none other than Blue Bulls coach Heyneke Meyer and of course Springboks coach Jake White. He was chosen for the Northern Hemisphere tour and subsequently scored a try against England after coming off the bench and only playing 5 minutes.

Already considered a legend especially by his hometown fans in Pretoria, he scored the Blue Bulls’ winning try in stoppage time at the Absa Stadium in Durban for the Super 14 trophy no less.

Currently at the top of his game and one of the key players in the Springbok Rugby team, he is surely one of the players to watch at this year’s Rugby World Cup in France.

At just 24 years old and having achieved so much, there really is a very bright future ahead for this South African rugby star.
