The Year of the Dragon is just around the corner! Many Chinese believe that it is a good year to get married, start a business, or even have a baby. For others, the Chinese New Year is a great time to take a break and catch up with the family.

And for others, it’s an opportunity to catch up on great anime! In the spirit of the holidays, we bring you an auspicious total of 8 dragon-themed anime for a spectacular start to the Year of the Dragon!

First is Scrapped princess, a story about Princess Pacifica Casull who is predicted to destroy the world when she turns sixteen, but survives to fight her fate and discover the truth of her world. The dragons that help and defend her were originally artificial intelligence weapons systems intended for combat against an alien race. In their true forms, they become, you guessed it, huge and powerful dragons.

Next, we have a classic from the Super Robot shows: Gaiking. The story revolves around a boy who pilots a huge mecha-dragon, built to defend the world from alien horrors. And Transformers fans rejoice; Gaiking’s CG movie remake is scheduled for release later this year.

And for the child in us, we have Legendz: History of the Dragon Kings. It begins with a popular toy craze, where children train battle monsters known as Legendz. Soon, they discover special crystals that can revive real creatures from the past, such as werewolves, mermaids, and of course dragons.

Romance

Who would expect dragons to appear in a romantic comedy series? Well here are two titles that will show you what dragons are all about laughter, love, and life.

In Dragon Crisis, high school boy Kisaragi Ryuji’s life takes an adventurous turn with the return of his cousin, Eriko. They get a box of relics from a black racer, and inside it, presto, they find a red dragon girl, Rose. Rose turns out to be absolutely in love with Ryuji, who nobly takes the power of a relic handler to protect her from the black organization.

Another romance, another Ryuuji; but is this a matchmaker? Toradora, also know as Tiger x dragon, is the story of two students, Takasu Ryuuji and Aisaka Taiga, who like each other’s best friends. Despite their differences, they agree to help each other in their search for young love.

Oldies but BEAUTYS

Ready for a wave of nostalgia?

Those of you who still remember when there were 150 Pokémon (+1!) Will probably fondly remember the nickname on Saturday morning. Pokemon episodes, when “I have to catch them all!” it was a possible dream and Team Rocket was more than a slight annoyance. The first series also had only three dragon-type Pokémon (Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite). So cute, but so powerful.

Another incredibly successful franchise, Dragon Ball It started with an addictive mix of martial arts, humor, and fantasy, led by Goku and the wish-granting Dragon Balls. As well as reviving interest in anime dragons, it has made its mark on the new generation of shonen titles, and it goes without saying that on the people who grew up watching it. Rating: More than nine thousand.

Since it’s the New Year, we end this list with the promise of better things to come. Looking ahead, we find an upcoming fantasy title, Dragon Age: Blood Mage no Seisen. A religious order operates in a world corrupted by sinister magic, dispatching elite seekers to restore stability to their land. For fans of the game, the trailer features equally spectacular graphics, thrilling action, and gratuitous violence.

With that, I wish you all a great start to the Year of the Dragon!
