If asked to choose between climbing Mount Everest and fixing their shoes, most children will choose to climb Mount Everest!
So why do kids hate tidying up their shoes so much? We think it’s because it’s boring! First they have to match the pairs, then they have to find a space to drop them, sadly that’s too much work for today’s kid!
Not in my day you will probably say and you would be right. But kids have a lot on their minds these days, and the only way to get them to do productive things like tidy up shoes (or whatever) is to make it easy and fun for them.
As you’ll probably agree, getting kids to start organizing from a very young age reaps its benefits in the long run. Therefore, it is a worthy cause in which to invest time and effort.
One way to get kids involved in organizing from a very early stage is to provide efficient, easy-to-use, and most importantly fun products to help them enjoy tidying up. Sorting out their shoes, one of the most hated chores for kids, can be fun with shoe storage products designed specifically for kids.
There are many options available to choose from and these vary widely in usefulness. There are wooden shoe storage products that most kids may not find “cool” enough. There are also the most popular variety; plastic shoe racks that come in various shapes and sizes.
Whichever you choose for your kids, it’s important that they come in a variety of interesting (or cool!) colors and styles to suit your personal style and room decor. Most importantly, it should be easy enough for them to assemble themselves. This, in our opinion, allows them to take over from the start. They should be able to put it together themselves without dad’s help! (That’s something every parent will be happy to know!)
Installing their own shoe rack without adult help allows them to feel “grown up,” which makes them more responsible and gives them the incentive to continue the good work they’ve done.
Unfortunately though there aren’t enough products that fit these descriptions as most shoe storage products are intended for adults. But you might be glad to know that some manufacturers are now listening more to parents, and some have even developed shoe storage products designed specifically for children.
Knowing that a product is designed for them makes it easier for children to relate to it and therefore use it. Therefore, you should invest some time in researching available shoe storage products designed especially for children.
