MySpace Instant Messaging features are just great. The app doesn’t take anything away from your free MySpace layout. It does not take up too much space on the screen or clutter the screen. Instead, it’s a cool little app that will amaze you with its talent! Not only can you send and receive instant messages, you can also view someone’s profile, send photos to your friends as easily as drag and drop, stream any music that catches your eye from a profile you’ve been browsing directly to your IM app, see your emails and MySpace bulletins, friend requests, be alerted when I have new comments and messages, and more. And, perhaps best of all, this amazing app that can do so many things is absolutely free!
All you have to do to get your hands on this new IM is to download it. At the time of this writing, it doesn’t “play nice” with Windows Vista, but works great with Windows XP, 2000, and 98. You must also be using a PC, as there is no Mac version yet. You can download from the site MySpace website. Once downloaded, simply follow the instructions that come with the file to get MySpace IM up and running.
First of all, you will need to log in to the app. You will use the same email account and password that you use to log in to your MySpace account. You will have three options to choose from here. MySpace IM can save your password, automatically sign in for you, or let you sign in as Hidden, so if you want to quickly check something and then sign out, your friends won’t think you’re ignoring them!
Next, you’ll need to decide which of your friends you want to add to MySpace IM. There are options to add only your best friends, add all your friends up to 200, or search for friends to add. Actually, you should only add the people you want to talk to on a regular basis. If by chance any of these people do not have MySpace IM installed on their machine, you will be given the option to send them an invitation. Now that you have your friends listed in the app, what next?
This is where the fun begins! Everyone you’ve added to MySpace Instant Messaging can be contacted through the app. You can find out when they’re online (unless they choose the Hidden option), share photos with them, and listen to music they may have included with their MySpace layout. You can also see their profile picture!
MySpace IM is customizable, which means you can change its appearance. You can also expect more options for this app in the near future.
