If you are a fan of the popular and recently released Rift game, you certainly know a bit about it. There are two main factions in this game, The Defiant and The Guardian, and regardless of which one you choose, you will have to level up. Guardian leveling guides were previously posted, but a recent addition is a leveling guide for the Defiant faction that you may want to check out if you are playing this faction.

Challenging players begin their adventure at Terminus. You’ll be leveling up there for some time (up to about level 7), after which you’ll move on to Freemarch. In Freemarch you will also visit your capital city and gain access to your first instance, the Iron Tombs. The capital of the Guardians is Sanctum and that of the Defiants is Meridian. The Rifts that appear here are Fire and Life. You will be leveling up in Freemarch until 17-20.

After that, you will move to an area called Stonefield. It is advisable not to enter this area before you are at least level 20 or you will have trouble completing quests and killing monsters. Stonefield has Earth and Death Rifts throughout the area, as well as the Deepstrike Mines instance to keep you busy. This area is also interesting due to several puzzles that have very good rewards.

After Terminus and Stonefield, you will finally be in Scarlet Gorge, where members of the other faction are also leveling up. That means you will have to watch your back all the time if you are on a PvP server or else you may get attacked. However, Scarlet Gorge is divided into two zones: the Defiants are on the south side and the Guardians are on the north. Scarlet Gorge is mostly fiery rifts and contains an interesting dungeon called Foul Cascade. Make sure you are at least level 32 before leaving this area or you will have issues with quests and mobs. Take part in some invasions, do your daily Warfront quest, and clear the dungeons one more time if you’re low on experience. The more levels before reaching the next area, the easier and faster you will level up.

After Foul Cascade, you will move on to Scarwood Reach. It is mostly populated by life rifts and also has a dungeon called King’s Breach. Additional puzzles are also found here that I recommend completing for decent experience and item rewards. Try not to leave Scarwood Reach before reaching at least level 35. As before, make sure to do dungeons, warfronts, and rifts if you don’t have quests and need more experience, though if you followed my advice above, you shouldn’t. be a problem

The next area is the Moonshade Highlands, where you’ll find the Runic Descent dungeon. You should earn level 42 here, after which you’ll move on to the Droughtlands, which has the Lantern Hook instance and is crafted up to level 46.

Once you hit the current level cap of 50, you’ll have numerous options. You can participate in more rifts and invasions, fight in war fronts against other players, gank, work on your professions, do some instances and loot and more. Reaching the level cap as quickly as possible is important as the actual game starts at 50.
