Given the popularity of bowling recently, it is very possible that you have spent at least a few hours on the game. If you have recently started bowling, you will notice that the game is very easy to play. The structure of the game itself is so simple that it will never cease to amaze you with its simplicity. While bowling’s biggest selling point is its simplicity, that doesn’t mean you can’t get ahead of the rest of the pack and become a pro.

Whenever you want to become a professional in any sport, there are some things that are common. The first thing to consider is practice and that goes for bowling as well. With practice comes skill and to get the most out of your relentless practice session is the right gear. Bowling is pretty low key in terms of the equipment you’ll need to bring with you, but there are a few specific items, like the right clothing and the right shoes, that can really go a long way in ensuring you achieve the skill you deserve.

Practice equals perfection

Choose any activity and if you want to be good at it, you can do nothing but practice. You want to get a better grade, you have to study regularly. You want to be amazing at work, do all the work regularly. Do you dream of bowling smoothly and impressing your kids and spouse the next time you’re at the bowling alley? Well, the answer is still the same practice.

If you are serious about bowling, then there are two things to consider. Will you be practicing or, in other words, having fun bowling every day or once a week? This depends on how far the bowling alley is from your home or office. While you want to practice and improve your game, you don’t want to let the game affect your work or your personal game. So, if you have a bowling alley nearby, then it makes sense for you to create some kind of daily schedule.

You could decide to go bowling for an hour or thirty minutes, as your daily work schedule allows. You could do this about five times a day so you can keep your weekends free for specific weekend activities. If you are not lucky enough to live in a place that is close to the bowling alley, but requires a certain amount of travel, then you may choose to go bowling every weekend.

Again, it depends on how your weekends go. Since it’s not possible to decide in advance whether you’ll be able to keep your weekends free all the time, do your best to bowl at least a couple of hours on both days of the weekend so you can squeeze in at least four hours bowling weekly. It is essential that you comply with the weekly schedule because discipline and practice go hand in hand.

Equipment

Once you’ve realized that you’re serious about all this bowling activity and have put together a program that you’re sure to stick to, the next half of your journey to bowling experience requires the right gear.

Most sports have clear rules about what equipment you need to buy for it. If you are going to play football then you have to get jerseys made for football and of course shoes to match. With bowling, there are no rigid clothing requirements. You must ensure that you wear clothing that allows free movement of your body, especially your legs and arms. You’ll be running a little, turning a little, and of course turning your arms a lot. If the clothes you wear restrict your movements, it will have a negative impact on your practice sessions.

In most cases, you don’t need to visit a sportswear store to get the perfect bowling apparel. For all you know, you probably have something in your wardrobe that is loose-fitting and allows free movement of your body. This is probably the case because bowling is also about having fun at a lower cost and not having to buy bowling-specific clothing is part of that design.

Barefoot or with shoes?

When it comes to choosing the right shoes, any shoe that gives your feet enough grip when you’re inside the bowling alley is good enough. There are a lot of people out there who would rather bowl barefoot and that works well too. Try with shoe and without shoe and see which one gives you a better experience.
