Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato have been friends and colleagues for many years. They both star in numerous DVDs for children and on Saturday morning television. The two of them work with VeggieTales, a popular kids series that features all kinds of wacky characters (in various vegetative states) who teach kids basic morals in a VERY fun way.

About five years ago, Bob the Tomato went into a major identity crisis when someone (we don’t know who he was) suggested that Bob didn’t belong to VeggieTales. After all, Bob is not a vegetable at all. In fact, it is a fruit.

Now, not to rise to the state of vegetable is sufficiently degrading. However, it is another thing to call oneself a fruit. The word in that context has very negative connotations. All the characters on the show are insane, but the “fruit” rises to a whole new level.

Bob did his research, and the fact is, he discovered to his disappointment that his family lineages did indeed lead him to the cutting edge. Bob went into a state of depression. Around the same time, VeggieTale’s first feature film, Jonah and the Whale, fell short of box office expectations and lost money. VeggieTales was facing bankruptcy.

Once at the top of the plant world, Bob now faced a major crisis crossroads in his life. Recognizing that his longtime friend was in serious trouble, Larry the Cucumber decided to intervene. He had Bob visit prominent plant psychiatrist Dr. Archibald. This is the same one that Dr. Archibald Larry had seen before about a certain lip fetish.

Dr. Archibald quickly diagnosed Bob’s identity crisis and recommended a cure. He suggested that Bob get together with all of his VeggieTales friends and create a music CD and DVD for the kids where the characters actually sing and speak to the kids BY NAME. This revolutionary BIG IDEA couldn’t have come at a better time for Bob.

By focusing on helping children with their own identities, Bob soon learned to forget about his own crisis. The new music CDs were such a hit that Bob encouraged others in the cartoon world to follow suit. Before long, CUSTOM children’s CDs were available featuring The Wiggles, Elmo and their friends from Sesame Street and Barney the Dinosaur. Even Mickey and Minnie Mouse saw the value of this incredible opportunity and, with their friend Goofy, they also produced a personalized children’s CD.

Increasing identity awareness in a child is invaluable. It is particularly important for young girls to be sure of who they are and who they are. The Disney Princesses came to the rescue and produced a wonderful personalized CD for little girls, teaching them BY NAME wonderful things about princesses like good manners and proper etiquette.

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber came up with the BIG IDEA. His music is delicious and the impact on a child’s identity and mental health is priceless.
