Connecting and reconnecting with others is an essential pillar for creating a meaningful life. You can connect with other people via text or email in seconds.

Over the past 7 months, my husband and I have reconnected with many friends, relatives, and colleagues in the United States, England, South America, and other countries within seconds via text and email. We have shared articles, books, concerts, and other treasures to help you stay positive and in a good mood to welcome each new day on a positive note. It takes seconds to send a text or email!

You can grow and rekindle your relationships starting today.

How are you connecting with others?

Do you talk to them via text, email, cell phone, FaceTime, or Zoom?

What new stories of hope, renewal, and connection are you sharing? How are you helping them to be positive and motivated?

Doesn’t it make you feel happier and more excited to hear their stories?

What stories, music, articles, and books are you reading and sharing of hope and renewal?

Conversations are something else.

With this thought in mind, it’s understandable that many conversations are agenda-driven and people are too busy to talk.

We were recently attending a virtual church service and out of the blue I got a thought to call a friend I hadn’t spoken to in several years. A few days later I called and asked how she and her family were doing. She replied that everyone was “fine”.

Hearing his voice was wonderful! She shared how her family has never been closer. Every week everyone has a FaceTime or Zoom call to talk about what they are doing and write each week. Before 7 months ago, they were connecting infrequently!

I said, “It’s a wonderful blessing that your children and grandchildren are all on your weekly FaceTime/Zoom connection.” She upped her response from “good” to “a more positive feeling!”

We sent you some articles, a book and music that we were sure you would enjoy via email in less than 2 seconds! She simply replied a week later: “We’re fine.”

“It’s an advantage! In every adversity there is a seed of hope and renewal!”

Several of our adult child friends have moved from other states to be closer to and help their parents. They continue to work at their computer workstations! Families are working together and are stronger because of this.

My husband and I called close friends during the summer hurricane to see how they were doing and if they needed help. Our friend said, “Our neighbor’s very large old tree fell on our house. We are without power. (They were without power for two weeks during the hottest part of the summer). She told us on the cell phone, “We are grateful Be alive and well!” He also said, “The local TV news came and told me about all the damage to our house. She asked us to “record that night’s news program because she didn’t have electricity to record it.” We did and we sent the 3 second ad to her cell phone that she has been uploading to her neighbor’s house. In the TV News ad, our friend said, “We are grateful to be alive and well!” She was smiling!” Others were interviewed right after our friend and were complaining! Our friend is 84 years old! Inspiring!

How to start?

Send a quick text or email asking how they’re doing and send an article, concert, book or other treasure that lifts their spirits. It only takes a second or two!

What are 2 strategies to connect with others by phone or cell?

1. Each day commit to connecting with 1-3 people. The important thing is to start building the habit of connecting with others.

2. Ask them how they are and then ask how their family is.

Listen carefully to what they say and offer your perspective when appropriate. Then share an article, concert, book, or something they would enjoy via email or text!

Make this a regular occurrence!

During these stressful times, hearing a trustworthy, friendly and positive voice brings hope and warmth. We all need this! Do it weekly! Remember that everyone needs to feel cared for and they need to feel hope!
