Bring the joy of the season right into your home with homemade Christmas decorations. The fun of making these beautiful Christmas crafts is only surpassed by the enjoyment you will get from them during the holiday season. These Christmas decorating projects can easily be done at home with your children.

crockery

Dress your table for the holidays with this beautiful craft. Using Flocked, Foil Embossed or Holographic Paper for this project will produce amazing results. Trace a unique pattern on your chosen material. This can be a geometric design, floral pattern, or seasons greetings. Cut out the pattern from your paper and use as table runners and placemats to decorate meals during the holiday seasons or at a holiday party.

Shooting Stars

Use metallic paper or mirror board for this beautiful ceiling craft. Trace or create your own pattern of stars. (Note: this can also be done in the shape of a snowflake.) Using your pattern, cut three stars from your chosen paper. Place the three stars on top of each other and make small holes in the center with a needle. Starting at the bottom, sew a thread through the pre-punched holes until you reach the top of the star. Leave some extra thread to hang your finished project. Finally, gently separate each of your six star halves to form a three-dimensional star ceiling decoration.

Styrofoam Snowman

Kids love building snowmen, and here’s one you can make all year long, no matter what the weather is outside. Using three different sized Styrofoam balls, hot glue one on top of the other in ascending order (largest on the bottom). Alternatively, you can use toothpicks to hold the Styrofoam balls together. Use felt or velvet paper to make a top hat, scarf, and buttons for your snowman. Don’t forget the carrot nose, eyes and arms. Using bendable wire or string, you can have your snowman hold a name tag, greeting, or sign.

custom wrapping paper

Any gift item will be graciously received when wrapped in its own custom made gift wrap. Use holiday-related templates to trace images onto plain paper and ribbon to embellish a simple package. Draw, trace and cut out suitable shapes and words directly on the wrapping paper or on separate special paper and stick it to decorate the entire surface of your gifts.

Personalize each wrapping paper to fit the person or gift inside. And don’t forget the ties! Along with this theme, you can also use your custom wrapping paper to make personalized gift boxes. Recycle old containers and boxes, turning them into stunning gift boxes using the prior art.

snow globes

Create your own miniature winter wonderland with this simple craft. You will need a plastic bubble container (like the ones found in toy vending machines) or a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid, glitter, hot glue gun, and an appropriate party character. Hot glue the holiday symbol to the top of the container lid. Sprinkle colored glitter on the clear bottom of the container or bubble jar. Fill the container or jar 3/4 full with water or baby oil. Hot glue the lid, inverted, to the transparent part of the container. Shake and enjoy watching the magic.

Optional: Spray a small amount of spray adhesive into a cup and apply with a toothpick or brush to the clear part of the container. Stick a small amount of glitter to the inside walls before adding all the glitter and sealing. This will leave your snow globe sparkling even when you haven’t shaken it.

beaded napkin rings

Dress up any dinner or party table with these colorful and simple napkin rings. Place shiny plastic beads (about 10-12) in the center of a pipe cleaner. Now twist the pipe cleaner to secure the beads in place and at the same time create the circle of the napkin ring. You can repeat this step for a double loop or move on to the next one. Wrap the ends of the pipe cleaner around a pencil to decorate, and your festive napkin rings are ready.

Your children will not only enjoy making these pretty decorations, but you will also save money using arts and crafts supplies, and you will be creating golden memories of quality time with your family.

Happy Holidays!
